The Rota da Liberdade communitarian tour is a roadmap drawn by a Maroon group of Cachoeira (BA) as a way to invite people from other realities to find out the richness of their culture, habits, costumes, lifestyle. Also, to generate income locally, collaborating for a sustainable development process; the tourism is an activity that involves many other in its benefits cycle, as the handcraft and all kind of services. 

The work with them was part of a bigger project, the Pedra do Cavalo. It contemplates the structuring and incubation of 4 communitarian business: the tourism, the resurs fishing, apiculture and handcrafts. All of them seeking for an ideal combination of social, environmental and economical resources and results.

Rota da Liberdade’s tours show, for example, marks of their ancestors’ history, the dance and music, the making of palm oil. The group prepared a lot themselves to get ready to receive foreigners in their houses. They prepared for long their houses. Now they are thinking in a sweet house to offer a new part of their spices.
